2009 Code Change Training Program Announced DHCD TASO/Training and Certification Unit announces the classroom schedule for the 2009 Code Change Training (CCT) program, specifically the building construction, technical trades, fire prevention, and administration sessions. Additional 2009 CCT administrative sessions, including rehabilitation, maintenance, and related regulation sessions, will be offered electronically via a dedicated external facing domain of the Virginia Knowledge Center, for which the online availability and instructions will soon be announced on the TASO/TCU Online Registration System once established.
Two additional 2009 CCT venues are available for DHCD credit to the DHCD certificate holders. The 2009 CCT construction, trades, and fire prevention sessions will also be provided electronically via a dedicated external facing domain of the Virginia Knowledge Center. The 2009 CCT program, as approved by DHCD, is also currently being presented by various professional organizations, including VBCOA, VPMIA, IAEI, and VFPA, at conferences and seminars throughout the state. Please contact the organizations directly for information, schedules, locations, and registration. Any combination of classroom, conference, and computer-based training may be completed for DHCD credit.
The particular 2009 CCT sessions are mandatory for all code officials and technical assistants based on respective certifications in the relative disciplines. The 2009 CCT administration session is also required of all code officials and technical assistants.
As always, the 2009 CCT program does not qualify for DHCD continuing education credit as required for all DHCD certificate holders. For those individual contractor license holders seeking DPOR continuing education credit, attendees will be required to present their DPOR issued trade or master license(s) when signing the attendance sheet at the start of the CCT trades sessions.
The 2009 CCT classroom program will be located at various community college campuses across the state, with a maximum attendance of 100 attendees per session. The 2009 CCT sessions are commuter-based only with no associated lodging or meal accommodations, and brown-bagging is encouraged. Please be cognizant and respectful of the parking requirements relative to each selected training facility.
The classroom program schedule is offered March through June in two day increments, however sessions may be scheduled as single or two day events, and may be viewed at the https://dmz1.dhcd.virginia.gov/TASO/TASOTCO/Default.aspx. Pre-registration through the TASO/ TCU online registration system is required for attendance.
DHCD Training Training, mandated by the Virginia Certification Standards, is provided through DHCD’s Virginia Building Code Academy (VBCA). VBCA training courses are targeted for personnel who are required to obtain certification in order to enforce the Uniform Statewide Building Code (USBC), Statewide Fire Prevention Code (SFPC), and Virginia Amusement Device Regulations (VADR).
VBCA courses run in multi-day formats and are held at locations throughout the Commonwealth to ensure thorough and convenient training opportunities for the state’s code enforcement personnel.
