VBCOA Region V SERVE's it up yet again
in 2011

On December 8, 2011, The
members of Region V embarked on a mission to once again assist SERVE and our
communities. Our volunteering members joined together in an effort to move
and organize hundreds, if not thousands of pounds of vital food for the
SERVE program. The effort also aided in organizing and distributing coats to
those in need during this winter season.
It is with great pride and joy that the
volunteering members of VBCOA Region V can assist in giving back to our
communities and help a worthy cause. SERVE is the Manassas campus of
Northern Virginia Family Service. It is unique for its holistic approach to
helping our community's most vulnerable individuals and families address a
variety of needs on their paths to self-sufficiency.

Region V - Gives to ACTS

L-R in Photo: Regional Officer Charlie Black, ACTS representative Bobby
Mahon, State Officer Sean Farrell, Region Chairman Gregg Fields
On October 19, 2011, Action in Community Through
Service (ACTS) in northern VA had to shut their pantry doors because the
shelves were empty and there was no food to provide families in need.
Region V of the Virginia Building and Code Officials Association quickly
put a call out to its membership to answer the need for help. On October
24, 2011, Region V Officer Charlie Black delivered approximately 125
pounds of food estimated at a $250 value to the pantry. And on October
27, 2011 Region V Chairman Gregg Fields and Officer Charlie Black
delivered another 130 pounds of food estimated at $250 value
to the pantry.
Monetary contributions of $250 added to the quick
and generous response from Region V localities and membership. ACTS is
now back in business serving and helping our community families in need
and their pantry shelves are stocked again. VBCOA Region V has again
delivered to those in need and clearly embodies the vision and values of
the Organization's mission as well as our strategic goals/objectives.
These folks are truly building safety professionals helping build better
communities!
